Poplar Balsam (Balm of Gilead) Infused Oil

$26.00 - $104.00

Only a few left!

Populus balsamifera buds are ethically wildcrafted from here in the pacific northwest from the sticky springtime buds and twigs of the Black Cottonwood tree. We slow infuse the fresh, aromatic buds in an Organic Olive Oil for 12 months to insure the fullest effect of this traditional herbal oil.

Herbalists use the Balm of Gilead as an oil or in a salve for it's reported analgesic, antibacterial, astringent and anti-inflammatory properties. We think it makes an excellent base in many natural remedy salves and oils such as our chest balms kits or blended with infused oils from herbal allies such as St. John's Wort, Calendula, or Arnica.

Poplar buds have a deep history in herbal remedies, as well as it's use a ceremonial oil in religious services and sacred rights. High in salicylic acid (the active ingredient in aspirin), the oil is useful in massage oils, liniments, skin care, and with the fresh clean scent it's ideal as a base in perfumes and body care.

Only a few left!

Comfrey has been used as a healing plant ally for more than 2,000 years to aid with muscle sprains, bruises, burns, and inflammation. Leaves and roots of comfrey contain allantoin and rosmarinic acid. Rosmarinic acid helps to relieve pain and inflammation while allantoin boosts growth of new skin cells. Because comfrey is a super star at promoting the growth of new skin cells, it can heal the outer layer of the skin faster than the inner layers and as such should not be placed on deep wounds. *
